In our toolmaking department, three young polymechanics contribute greatly with their skills and enthusiasm. Benjamin Bögli, Raphael Schenk, and Alexander Schürch each bring their own strengths and complement each other perfectly as a team. Together, they ensure that everything runs smoothly with our custom tools. That’s why we’d like to introduce them to you today.
How did it start?
Benjamin joined EKKO-Meister in 2019. He started as a production mechanic EFZ with a focus on CNC turning and has developed his skills since then. Today, he’s proficient in CNC milling on 3- and 5-axis machines as well as wire and sinker EDM. He describes his work approach like this: “I’d rather take a bit more time to get it right the first time than have to redo it.”
Raphael is a trained toolmaker and joined our team in March 2023. He has already made use of the many learning opportunities at EKKO-Meister: “Since I started here, I’ve been given the chance to gain new skills in wire EDM.”
Alexander joined EKKO-Meister in December 2023. He brings solid training in CNC technology, including CNC milling, grinding, and wire EDM, making him a valuable part of the team.
What do they do?
Benjamin manufactures individual parts for new stamping and injection molding tools, as well as components for assembly machines and production cells. He also operates the machines and handles service and repair work on the tools.
Raphael takes care of producing replacement parts, individual components, and making tool modifications. Alexander works on individual parts as well as wear parts for stamping and injection molding tools.
Memorable projects
Benjamin likes to look back on an HVAC project: “It was a particularly interesting project where we made three connector pins that were later overmolded with plastic. We built two stamping and bending tools and four injection molding tools, all as part of a complete production cell that we built in-house.”
Raphael enjoyed the training on the wire EDM machine, while Alexander highlights a gripper project: “It was a complex part that pushed me to my limits and brought many small challenges that I had to overcome.”
What do they appreciate about their job?
All three mention the great working atmosphere at EKKO-Meister. Benjamin describes it as “very family-like and friendly, where you’re always supported as long as the work gets done.” Raphael agrees: “The co-workers and supervisors are friendly, respectful, and helpful.”
Alexander adds: “There’s always room for a little joke, which naturally has a positive effect on work motivation.”
What does the future hold?
All three are optimistic about the future. Benjamin expects the company to grow, especially in the field of medical technology. Raphael is looking forward to new challenges and says: “I’m very confident that EKKO-Meister has good prospects for the future.” Alexander takes a similar view: “In my opinion, there’s still a lot to come, especially in terms of growth in personnel and orders.”
And after work?
After work, they all know how to unwind. Benjamin enjoys spending his free time outdoors with family or friends. Raphael loves riding motorcycles, going to the gym, or playing on the computer. Alexander shares the passion for motorcycling and listens to EDM and Indian music. He’s also a regular at the gym now.
