May we introduce you to Tom Gärtner?

He has been working in our team for a remarkable 26 years. So it’s about time we introduced you to our supply chain specialist….
Tom, please tell us a little about yourself

==> How did you come to Supply Chain Management?
Coming from a culinary background – with additional sales training – I was introduced to stamping technology at Hans Meister AG. After working in the stamping department, barrel finishing and logistics, I eventually arrived in the supply chain.

==> How would you describe your work?
There is no typical routine, and I wouldn’t like that.
My activities include production planning and control, material procurement, logistics, calculations, customs clearance, entering customer orders – and if help is needed, I sometimes handle the forklift.
I also do employee training and training on our in-house ERP system.
It’s a diverse and interesting field.

==> What do you like best about your job?
For me, it’s important to do my job at the level I would expect as a customer. And that’s only possible if the whole team works together.
And of course, I like the contact with our customers, be it in Switzerland or abroad.

==> And which projects have been the most exciting over the years?
Certainly the merger between Hans Meister AG and Ekko Technik AG 4 years ago – and getting to know the assembly technology, ball bearing production, etc. that came with it.
And of course, plastic injection molding. Now we have with the possibility of producing entire assemblies in-house. Very exciting.

==> What do you think about Ekko-Meister’s future?
We offer our customers a wide range of products from stamped parts, ball bearings and plastic parts to assemblies. And we even build our own automatic assembly machines. This is the right way.

==> And how do you like the working environment?
The interaction with the co-workers and the management is very pleasant. Also, the climate is innovative – solutions are created before the problems even arise.

==> What is your motto?
“The optimist is no less often wrong than the pessimist, but he lives more joyfully.” (Charlie Rivel)

==> And what do you like to do in your free time?
Nomen est omen: gardening, traveling and capturing moments that will never be exactly the same again: Photography.
